Preschool 3 (ages 3 to 5) - Pre-Winter Tuesdays at Scott Highlands Middle School

Preschoolers build on the skills learned in Preschool 2.

Skills include:

• Jump into shoulder-deep water
• Holding hold breath under water, bobbing and rotary breathing
• Float and glide on front and back
• Tread water, 30 sec.
• Change direction while swimming
• Swim on front and back, 15 yd.
• Challenge skills: front crawl and elementary backstroke

Exit Skills:

• Jump into shoulder-deep water, float or tread 15 sec, swim on back 15 yd & exit the water
• Move into a back float for 15 sec, roll to front & recover to vertical
• Swim on front 15 yd with 15 sec back float at mid-pool

Safety topics: Basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming and waterpark safety.

Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 4 students per instructor.

Prerequisite: Students must have completed Preschool 2 or have equivalent skills.

Registration tip: Children, ages 5 and up that complete Preschool 3, should register for Learn to Swim Level 2.
