Disputed Elections: Understanding Contested Results in U.S. HistoryPersonal DevelopmentHave Presidential results ever been disputed, debated and decided by Congress and not by the people? Have the winners ever lost? Discuss six elections where the results were in dispute, how those disputes were eventually settled and how those settlements impacted the history of our country. Examine when either a third party influenced the outcome or the winner of the popular vote won the election, but it was not disputed. Partner class with District 191. Election of 1800: What happens if there is a tie? Election of 1824: What happens if no one wins a majority in the Electoral College? Election of 1876: Can the winner lose a Presidential election? Well yes, with some help! Election of 1912: A Bull Moose throws his hat in the ring and creates nomination chaos? Elections of 1968 and 2020: How tumultuous years in America impact nominations, elections results, and claims of victory? Election of 2000: So, was it really all about “Florida, Florida, Florida?” Elections of 1860, 1888, 1948, 1960, 1992, 2016: In these four elections (1860, 1948, 1992 & 2016) a third party had an impact. In one the loser clearly wins (1888), and in one (1960) it was so close both sides had a claim of victory.Adult Fall 2026 -

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)ECFE offers a variety of classes all designed to help strengthen families through interactive play and relevant, research-based parent education. We invite you to join our ECFE family as we share and learn together. A typical ECFE class includes: Parent-Child Interaction - Time where parent and child together enjoy a classroom filled with developmentally appropriate learning activities. Parent Education - Provides relevant, effective education and support that encourages a healthy environment for the growth and development of families. Children’s Activity Time - During parent education time, children explore, gain independence and practice social skills while under the supervision of a licensed children’s teacher. Class Fees/Sliding Fee Scale: Our class fees are based on your family annual income and determined by a sliding fee scale. District 196 residents are encouraged to register regardless of their ability to pay. Babies nine weeks or younger are not counted as a second child when determining class fee. REGISTRATION TIMELINE - FALL:Registration open: July 10 to August 4, 11:00 p.m.Lottery: August 6, 2026 **Registration re-opens: August 8, 8:00 a.m. to September 16, 11:00 p.m.Out of District registration starts August 17, 8:00 a.m. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Cancellations prior to the start of class receive a full refund. After the first class, you will receive a refund minus $25 processing fee. All registrations are considered final after the second class meeting and are not eligible for a refund. ** WHAT IS THE LOTTERY: Each quarter (summer, fall, winter, spring), our class registration opens to District 196 families. Families are asked to designate a first and a second choice class. After 2-3 weeks of open registration, we close registration and run a computer-generated lottery which places everyone in one of their class choices. (We have a high demand for classes, so this is a way of trying to get as many families as possible into at least one class.) After we run the lottery, registration opens again and more families register or you can sign up for a second class. Two weeks before classes begin, registration opens for out-of-district families.Category -

FullEarly Childhood Screening 09-09-2026 (September 9)Early Childhood ScreeningJoin us at Early Childhood Screening as soon as your child turns 3 years 3 months old! This is a FREE and simple check of how your child is growing and developing. Each child is different, so the sooner we see you, the more we can offer. Screening helps ensure that all young children are well equipped for learning, and families are aware of resources and programs within our schools and also the community. We can help your child build on their strengths to get ready for school learning. At what age should my child be screened? Ideally we screen children at 3 years 3 months old! If your child is older, it is still time to schedule his/her Early Childhood Screening to check all areas of development including hearing, vision, height and weight before Kindergarten. What information is gathered at screening? Watch and discover more about your child’s development and learning, such as: Thinking, language, and communication skills Social and emotional development Large and small muscle coordination Problem solving, following directions, and listening skills Early Childhood screening is one way to support children in their early years of growth and development. It is also a way to identify children who may benefit from early childhood services before they enter school and connects families with the appropriate resources and programs. Where is screening held? Screenings are held at the District 196 Service Center - 14301 Diamond Path West, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Click here for map. What do I need to bring for this appointment?
